Retro Africa is pleased to announce’Being Buhari’ - a collaborative contemporary art exhibition. This exhibition was conceived as a collaboration between Bayo Omoboriowo - President Muhammadu Buhari’s official photographer - and four contemporary Nigerian visual artists,Williams Chechet, Habeeb Andu, Emmanuel Adeyemi and Yusuff Aina. Omoboriowo’s images have given us a window into understanding the depth of the president’s commitment towards ensuring the realization of his political mandate. He continues to turn his lens and capture the daily activities of the President, making him photographically accessible to the citizens
The theme of the exhibition is centered around pictures and captured visuals (shot by Bayo Omoboriowo) of the president’s experiences and past four years in office. Chechet, Andu, Adebayoand Aina are creating their unique forms of art around the president's photos in order to provide a unique blend and collaborative effort between the photographer and the artists.
This exhibition was an invitation to experience the first part of the ‘Buhari Years’ and a welcome to the start of anew era - the Next Level - as promised by the President
