This exhibition will attempt to explore the evolution of artistry in Nigeria, its creation process and how it has changed/varied over the past century. Has the influence of technology, and its impact on the creative process, forced artists to grow or recline to basic mediums as a form of expression? Will they withstand the test of time (as traditional art pieces have done)? Will their message be relevant enough to enter the canon of artistic lustre and echo through the ages of inspiration, imagination and creativity. Only time will tell. “Back To The Future” is the experiential process by which past meets present and present meets future. Here, art may continue to resonate through the ages.

Every single Artist we are presenting is African, self-made and has a story to tell. The 1:54 team have done an astonishing job creating an outlet or platform for self-expression and supporting artists from Africa and its diaspora.
